What the coverage pays for
When a covered powertrain part fails because of a defect in materials or workmanship, the warranty pays for the parts and labor to repair it. Mopar groups the covered parts like this:
- Gas engines: the block and its internal parts, cylinder heads, timing components, oil and water pumps, manifolds, oil pan, turbocharger or supercharger, and the seals and gaskets for those parts
- Diesel engines: the block and internals, cylinder heads, fuel injection pump and injectors, turbocharger housing and internal parts, oil and water pumps, manifolds, and the glow plugs and all sensors
- Transmission: the case with everything inside it, the torque converter and bell housing, the range switch, the speed and pressure sensors and the control module. Manual transmission clutch parts are never covered.
- Four-wheel drive: the transfer case and its control module, the axle housings and internal parts, axle shafts, driveshafts, universal joints and their seals
The math on a Cummins
Mopar describes the extension as stretching Ram's standard powertrain coverage of 5 years or 60,000 miles, or 100,000 miles on diesel engines, out to 10 years or 100,000 miles. For a 6.7L Cummins in a 2500, 3500 or chassis cab, that means the mileage ceiling stays where it already was, and the time limit doubles from 5 years to 10.
That matters on a truck that works hard but doesn't cover many miles a year, the kind that hauls to the field, waits out the winter and runs again at harvest. On a gas Ram 1500, the mileage limit rises too, from 60,000 to 100,000. Our Cummins diesel service page covers the maintenance side of keeping that diesel coverage in good standing.
What it does not cover
Mopar's terms keep the regular warranty exclusions in place. Among them:
- Normal maintenance, such as oil changes, filters, coolant, tune-ups and worn brake linings
- Damage from poor or improper maintenance, contaminated fuel, or fluids other than those the owner's manual calls for
- Aftermarket add-ons, additives and racing, along with any repair they cause
- Collision, fire, hail, flood and other outside damage
- Any vehicle declared a total loss or titled salvage, junk, rebuilt or scrap
- Towing, rental vehicles, lost time and lost revenue while the truck is down
Keep your maintenance records
If FCA ever questions how a truck was maintained, its terms say the owner will have to prove the maintenance was done, and FCA can restrict coverage on a vehicle that was neglected. The FTC adds that you don't have to use the dealer for routine maintenance to keep a warranty in effect, but you should keep records of every oil change and repair.
For a sense of the limits, the 2026 Ram 2500/3500 owner's manual never lets a 6.7L Cummins go past 15,000 miles, 12 months or 500 hours between oil changes, or a 6.4L gas engine past 8,000 miles, 12 months or 350 hours. Run biodiesel blends above B5 in the Cummins and the manual's biodiesel section also keeps oil changes no more than 6 months apart.

Frequently asked questions
Can I transfer Ram's 10-year powertrain warranty when I sell my truck?
No. Mopar's terms limit it to the original owner. A second owner keeps powertrain coverage under the regular 5-year/60,000-mile terms, or 5 years/100,000 miles on diesel engines.
Does the Ram 10-year warranty cover the Cummins?
Yes, on a 2026 Ram 2500, 3500 or chassis cab owned by its original owner. The covered diesel parts include the fuel injection pump and injectors, the turbocharger and the glow plugs and sensors.
Does the 10-year powertrain warranty apply to a leased Ram?
Yes. Stellantis's announcements put leases to individuals and businesses in the same group as retail sales; only fleet purchases are left out.
Does my 2025 Ram have the 10-year warranty?
Mopar's terms make the 10-year coverage effective with the 2026 model year. For an older Ram, check the warranty booklet that came with it.
Do I have to get my Ram serviced at the dealer to keep the warranty?
Not for routine maintenance. The FTC says a dealer can't deny warranty coverage because someone else did the maintenance, so keep your receipts. Covered repairs, though, must happen at an authorized Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Ram dealer, such as ours.
When does the 10 years start?
Mopar's terms count the 10 years from the vehicle's in-service date, and the coverage ends at 10 years or 100,000 miles on the odometer, whichever comes first.
